Andrew Blitz is currently Procurement and Category Manager at the WA Local Government Association. In this specialist procurement role Andrew develops contracts for the supply of goods and services for the Local Government sector.
The WALGA Preferred Supplier program delivers the Local Government sector approximately 50 contracts and a range of business services with a collective turnover of $250 million per annum. Key business development created and managed by Andrew include taxation, telecommunications, ICT, energy and energy infrastructure, roadbuilding supplies and services, engineering, environmental and technical consultancy services.
Andrew maintains professional memberships as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (FCIPS), the Local Government Managers Association (MLGMA). He has completed the Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators Australia (MIAMA) Probity Advisors course and the Australian Institute of Company Directors course (GAICD). Through these affiliations Andrew has been instrumental in building procurement competencies within industry and promoting the benefits of professional procurement career development. Andrew is a former member of the judging panel for the Australian national Procurement Professional Awards, and a former award nominee. He has been integrally involved in the design, accreditation and delivery of nationally recognised training qualifications. An enthusiastic presenter and facilitator, Andrew has been able to challenge the business and governance processes of many Local Government and supplier organisations, adding value and strategic insight and value to the procurement function.
